Pat Perez

Pat Perez isn’t exactly known as a calm and stoic individual on the golf course.  Sometimes he just lets his emotions get the better of him.  That’s exactly what happened on Sunday at the Reno-Tahoe Open where he blew his shot at winning and stormed off the course.  He stormed right by a young fan without a second glance.  I’d post a link to the video but the powers that be at the PGA Tour didn’t like it circulating online and yanked it from youtube.  Edit – You can .

Afterwards, he realized that this wasn’t acceptable behavior for a professional golfer and , calling it a “dick move”.  He then asked fans to so he could make up for his behavior.  Hopefully somebody out there knows who this kid is and Perez will get a chance to make things right.

Everybody makes mistakes, but owning up to them and trying to fix things says a lot about a person’s character.

Brian Wilson at the Waste Management Open

Guess who showed up as Pat Perez’s caddy Tuesday at the Waste Management Open?  Brian Wilson.  Yes, Giant’s closer Brian Wilson.

Wilson apparently decided to spend this off season becoming a mountain man.  He was coaxed off the mountain to caddy for his friend Perez on Tuesday before heading back into the wild (FanFest in SF on Saturday and possibly the Superbowl in Dallas on Sunday).

He was pretty impressed with getting to see Perez’s game up close on a tournament course:

Couple of birdies here and there. Pars. Straight off the tee, Every green in regulation. It’s almost like, is this really happening? I don’t get to see golf in this kind of perspective.

I hope everybody was careful not to make him mad.  He is a certified ninja after all…
