I normally don’t follow the Canadian tour, but an article over on Ottawa Golf Blogger caught my attention yesterday afternoon.
James Lepp is usually pretty busy with his shoe company, Kikkor Golf. But the 2005 NCAA Div I champ does find the time to get out of the office and tee it up once a year or so on the Canadian Tour.
This week, Lepp is playing in the Times Colonist Island Savings Open at the Uplands Golf Club in Victoria. With rounds of 70 and 69, he ensured he’d be playing this weekend.
He had a bit of a rough day on Saturday, shooting a 73. But he’s still tied for 37th, which isn’t too bad when you only play in one event per year. And frankly even playing on the weekend was a great accomplishment after finding himself 4 over par early on Thursday.
Good luck today James!

Had a chance to watch James play the back 9 yesterday and he was battling pretty hard but was in trouble a few times off the tee. A few friends on the tour were saying that he has been slowly getting back into trying to play competitively but I never spoke with him to confirm that.
It has to be tough trying to build and grow a brand while putting in the time to practice. Hopefully he can find a balance as he still has loads of talent.
We’ll have to see how he finishes, but at 5-under through 12 holes (with virtually everybody else so far shooting even or over par), James is playing himself right back into contention today.
If he is trying to play more competitive golf, it’s a damn good start.
Thanks for the support boys. Bogey train on Saturday hurt the chances quite a bit. Probably my only tourney of the year…
Thanks for stopping by James. We’d all love to jump off the bogey train some days, but it was still a heck of a performance for your only tourney of the year.
And James has a great sense of humor as well!
