Last week the Chinese government conducted multiple raids on counterfeit golf club operations in China. They seized over 25,000 products from markets in Beijing and Shanghai.
This is part of an ongoing effort to stem the flow of fake golf clubs coming from China. In September alone, the Anti-Counterfeiting Group conducted 4 raids that seized 80,000 fake clubs.
According to Michael Rider, Senior VP and General Counsel for Callaway Golf, “The number and location of these recent raids sends a strong message to counterfeiters that we are committed to shutting them down.”
“We are striking back at these illegal operations, hitting them where it hurts like our most recent action in shutting down some of the most popular locations in the world of counterfeit store fronts,” said Rawleigh Grove Vice President and General Counsel for PING. ”We’re confident this will be a deterrent to counterfeiters in the future as we keep pushing to keep golf real.
The problem is that while the numbers sound impressive (and they really are), this is just a drop in the bucket. When you shut down one market in China, 2 more will open up. Personally, I don’t really have a problem with Counterfeit clubs per se. If you want to buy some cheap knock-offs, then go ahead. Nobody buying a $50 set of Callaway’s in China actually thinks they’re real. The real problem is when the counterfeits get shipped over here to be sold as legitimate clubs. Some golfer then ends up going on eBay and unknowingly buys one and wonders why his new super-titanium carbon fiber driver is shorter than his 5-wood.
To that end, I’ve posted a list of websites allegedly selling fake golf clubs after the break. Also, for what it’s worth, the counterfeiters only bother going after the big name brands. A rep from Adams told me earlier this year that they’ve never actually seen a fake Adams club because they’re not yet a big enough brand to have caught the attention of the counterfeiters in China. Also, My Golf Spy has a nice guide on how to avoid buying fake clubs on eBay (they claim 24% are fakes).

You can add the above website to your counterfeit golf club sellers.
Have a look at cheapgolfforsale.co.uk I have just ( stupidly) purchased a set of Mizuno JPX800 irons from them for £250. My payment was cashed in Bejing. The clubs seem fine however and the chap at American golf couldnt tell they were fakes until we noticed that the ” n” on the makers name on the 9 iron was lightly out of line. The shafts are JPX Mf 100. I am not sure that Mizuno ever use such a shaft.
I would add these two to your list.

You can add this website as well…
http://www.cheapgolfmall.com/
Are the clubs fake from http://www.cheapgolfmall.com ? Tell me what happened to you because
I’m cancelling my order.
Hi Jack
I would not trust this website after purchasing from another i would warn people to do the research first so i know of 2 which are legit http://www.intheholegolf.com & http://www.golfballs.com ask them questions about the site and the clubs you want to purchase i am looking into a counterfeit website which i hope to give information and collating information on website like http://www.enjoymygolf.com and how we can stop them taking our money and running.
Jack I was wondering how do I cancel something that is already taken out of my bank account? I am hoping this is not a fake site though
http://discountpricegolf.com
fake telephone number on website now removed. state they are doing business in chicago, i live in chicago and no record anywhere. payments go to china.
Having complained about the clubs on to the supplier accusing them of supplying fakes they rather surprisingly offfered me compensation of £35 which they have deposited in my bank account! They didn’t want me to return them saying that it would be very expensive. and I wasnt prepared to risk paying for the postage and then get no refund. They were very polite in their broken ( Chinese) English.
DO NOT BUY FROM http://www.enjoymygolf.com!!.. they sell counterfeit i purchased a set of Taylormade R11′s they drive broke the first time at the driving range that can’t be registered I’v been emailing them and offered $150 to go away i’m trying for a refund but no joy i have reported them on the ASGA
Approx. 5 minutes ago I confronted golfdiscount4sale.com on their report of selling counterfeit product. I started with a few basic questions and then dropped the question of them selling counterfeit product. Wouldn’t you know, the conversation came to an abrupt end. Please pass this on to make sure we can save as many victims as possible.
Has anyone had any experience or heard of anyone how has dealt with sunnygolfclubs.com? Their prices seem to be too low.
Phil,
Ive been doin a lot of looking myself for a better price on clubs and equip. Ive found that the old saying “too good to be true” definitely comes into play with this industry. I will be paying retail prices for golf items now to make sure that i can narrow my chances of counterfeits. Counterfeiting has become one of Chinas largest industries and is ever growing. Just to add, i dont work in the industry either, just a po-dunk golfer that likes golf.

Hello,
do you know if there’s something to do after having bought fake clubs…
anything to be paid back ?
sorry to find your website too late….
Bought them on golfdiscount4sale…
Thank you in advance.
I ordered some clubs from okeygolf.com. I immediately felt something was wrong. I’m trying to cancel order right now any helpful hints? They have not responded to any emails that I sent. I found out about your site doing some research. I found another fake website in the process http://www.golfdealonline.com. I will let you know how things turn out!!!!
This site is a new one same people as the http://www.wholesalegolfwarehouse
Beware they got me!
Good quality copy of taylormades…stuck with them now
I am the same jeff!!! Stupidly bought mp58 irons yesterday and then felt like such an ars£ when I found this site however I am going to use there 30 day money back gaurantee, not going to even take them out the box as half the battle with golf is have confidence in your equipment and after this read, I don’t!
Well!! I said I would let you know how things turned out. I finally got in contact with Okeygolf.com . They would not cancel order. The golf clubs arrived a few days later. The ping Hybrid no doubt upon inspection of the club head it was a counterfeit. The irons could not tell right away. Very good counterfeit. Called Ping Serial #s were incorrect. My curiosity got the best of me and took them to the range and tested them against some “real” Ping clubs and could not tell the difference.I had others at the range try them with same results. Point is if you get stuck with counterfeit you might try playing them. I personally do not condone counterfeits!!!! Just trying to make the best of a bad situation. Still trying to get money back.
as for me, I sent an e-mail to taylormade to inform them.
few days later, I was surprised to see that the website http://golfdiscount4sale.com was not available anymore!
there’is now a link to a complaint from big manufacturers (taylormade, cleveland, callaway, etc..)
on this link “http://servingnotice.com/gwg2/26%20-%20120315-%20Cert%20of%20Service%20of%20Compl,%20TRO%20etc%20via%20Publication.pdf”
there is a list of all the website that received a complaint from manufacturers….
I’m still in the process of trying to get a refund. Ping will assist in the process by supplying documentation stating clubs are counterfeit (serial #s are incorrect) . Credit card Co. also investigating . One thing I didn’t count on was how expensive it will be to ship clubs back to Hong Kong…… Thanks Estelle for that link!! I just wish I had info. before I purchased clubs.Let me know how things turn out for you. Thanks!!
Hi Jeff
I will be surprised if you get a refund without sending the clubs back. The postage is likely to be about £100. I wasnt prepared to risk forking that amount out when I knew I was dealing with a bunch of fraudsters! I was surprised they gave me anything back £35 and acknowlege that my ” Mizuno” irons were fakes.
My Nephew is going to hav them as a starter set for which they will be fine
Good luck!
Hey David,
I was thinking the same thing ! Don’t want to waste anymore money . I may just chalk this one up to experience!! I will wait to see what my credit card Co. will do if anything. Thanks for the advice.
Hi All
Another site to add.. Has just come online &
this site was previously known as -
http://www.yourwholesalegolf.com
http://www.golfzoneau.com
All the same people just a new day a new rip off site, beware!
Peter
Hi,
Like most of you I have fallen foul to the counterfeit club having ordered the new Taylormade RBZ three wood. On arrival I noticed that the speed pocket was not the same depth as the one in the local store. I emailed them and was surprised to get a response, they asked for me to send images which I did.
They acknowledge that the club is counterfeit and offered compensation, I was slightly gobsmacked when they only offered 20 dollars compensation!!!! A rather short and swift email has gone back and I wait with bated breath as to the reply. I like most of you am not going to send back, and if they want it they can pay for the postage and packaging. I am not expecting a full refund, but going hold out for as much as I can…. through my line of work, I may be able to identify relevant units and departments that may be interested in this and I hope the promise of these being contacted and the pointing out of offences taking place may just help get a refund (i doubt it but worth a shot!!!)
Hi All
I should have read this website earlier.
I was looking to purchase original Ping. I contacted http://www.golfzoneau.com and was told their clubs are original, even it was stated on their website. When I received my clubs, there was dent on the wood and when I took them to the Golf shop and they confirm they are fakes. If I want to buy fakes there are many fake websites cheaper than theirs by $50-$100. After confronting them, they calimed their clubs are OEM and decided to partially refund. There are many websites similar which also sells fakes and others selling cheaper fakes than theirs.
Really disappointed.
golfcheapau.com This is a definite seller of fakes they give false information when asked for details then send fake clubs made in China.
I can confirm that. Golfcheapau sold me some Ping G20s that looked like they’d been glued together by a 6 year old
I forgot to add that Visa are going to refund me the money
Found this site, ordered a club. I have tried to cancel the order but got told it was to later. It looks like its American but when I have checked my bank the payment was in hong kong. Anyone else used these?
Sorry site was golfsaleMart.com
I ordered a set of Taylor Made R 11 irons and matching driver on April 19th 2012. I’ve been concerned because I have only been able to get in touch by email with the golfcombo representative a few times. The clubs didnt ship for over a week becasue they said I didnt confirm my home address? So I did through email and have been asking for a tracking number and still cant get one. I have become very concerned and didnt realize that counterfiet clubs were so prevalent until doing a little research which is how I found this website. I’m sure these clubs after researching this will be fake. What is the best way to get a refund? Also after looking at more websites you can tell the fakes becasue they have the same tendancies such as broken sentences in English. http://www.lowpricedgolf.com, and http://www.enjoygolf.com have the same look and set up which seems fake. You cant get a hold of anyone!
http://www.usgolfclubssale.com can somebody tell me if they know something about this site? seems to me that it could be fake.
Hey John!
Counterfeit clubs Website!!!!!! They claim to use paypal but if you purchase clubs you will be redirected to another payment site. The dead giveaway is no phone # on website. Don’t be tempted by the low prices. There aren’t that many authorized websites for legit clubs. For instance Ping only has few authorized sites and you can call them an find out which sites they are. I would suggest doing that with any Brand. Call that Co. direct and get a list of legit sites.
Stay away from http://www.cheapgolfsite.com.
Selling very bad quality fake golf clubs.
Cheap counterfeits from china
Silly me I bought a callaway razr
Part of the Chinese golfdiscounttown
I just ordered a set of titleist ap2s from cheapgolfseason.com and i was just wondering if they were fake…
yes, they are fake., sorry, got me too
Add cheapgolfseasons to the list. Got me on titilest ap 1 irons. Logo came off 5 iron. Found out they are embossed in the head. Trying to return for a refund but getting nowhere. Credit card co. is now involved. They gave me a address to ship them. Will gladly give this to the police for there next raid. next set will be from a golf shop
ti bought a taylormade R11s,hit it and it sounded like a tin can, contated there company they said take a video of you hitting it, So I did, they said it must be a manufaturing defect they sent me another one, same thing, so I went round and round with them, they aggred to send me my money back if I sent the clubs back, why would I want something that wasn’t right. So know they won’t even respond back to me. Do not buy anything from bestgolf365.
Is lowpricegolf.com a fake?
Priced*
Add this one to the list. They sell fakes and do not honor their guarantee when I asked to return the fake club.
Hi
Has anyone ever brought golf irons from this site before? – I have finally got a set of Ping G20s after lots of chasing but am concerned that they may be fake, the ping insert on the back of each club appears to be loose, is this normal ( first time buyer of Ping clubs)
Toni,
What is the name of the Web site? I would think the insert should not be loose!! Ping only has a couple authorize web sites. Sites like Golf Smith and other well known names. You can check serial #s of the clubs by calling Ping direct.
Hi there all, If any of you buy any golf equipment out of China it will be fake!! I have been living in China for about 1 year now and anything golf here is at least 50% more expensive than in the US most of the guys I play with here import their clubs from theUS!!
Blacksmithgolf
do NOT use these guys in chine rip 500 used
Do not correspond to bob he is a fake
I brought two clubs from golftownsale.com, taylormade r11s driver and three wood both were fake spent $320 they offerd me $60 back,
If you buy Golf Clubs from China they will be Fakes! I live in China and for me to buy Genuine Golf anything here it will cost at least 50% more than in the US or UK, Golf in China is considered an eleitest sport and therefore all Golfing Equipment has the Government imposed luxury tax!!
Bought a fake scotty cameron newport 2 putter from these guys and when I got it I contacted the company and they said it came from the OEM factory.
http://www.officegolfshop.com/ FAKE scotty cameron newport 2s
Does aybody have an experience with onlinegolfsale.us site? Their prize is also too good to be true.
I’m also looking at buying from onlinegolfsale.us Did you end up purchasing clubs from them?
Man bought a set of ap2 irons last night from these guys…..and now I’m reading here!
I should’ve known that the clubs will probably be fake!
Were your golf clubs legit or did they scam you?
Just made payment for a set of Ping G20 clubs from http://www.onlinegolfsale.us without first checking its background. How silly of me. The payment was credited to an account starting with “EBL…” . There’s a bank in Bangladesh called Eastern Bank Ltd. Now regretting my decision. They’ve yet to ship the clubs so I’ve emailed asking for a refund. I’ve yet to hear from them despite sending a couple of emails.
They’ve refunded my money after I pressed them for it. The payment was made to a bank in Beijing.
Hi There,
Cant believe that I am here admitting I got sucked in, against my better Judgement lol,,when looking for Golf gear don’t have to many drinks,,,
$500.00 Conned from discountgolfaus.com all the way from China,,,
have anyone heard about this website?
http://www.golfmarketusa.com/
Hey Dany!
I never heard of them, but I did view the website. My advice don’t buy from them. If there is no phone # or address to contact them HUGE red flag!
I’m happy I found this site, I’ve been debating a purchase from http://www.golfmarketusa.com for both myself and my wife. After reading all the insight on this page it’s a no brainer these guys are fake. There is no contact phone# or physical address, they offer free shipping to pretty much anywhere in the world and it seems like all the clubs come shipped with an aftermarket shaft that is installed by their “shop.” Also if you go to place an order they confirm the order and send you an order # before asking for payment then in an email from a gmail.com address they send you a link to complete payment. You know what they say If it seems too good to be true it usually is. I’ve just sent them an email flat out asking if they are counterfeit clubs, fully expecting them not to reply which would only confirm my belief.
i just bought on rockbottom golf and they said to me no brokerage fees( ups ).they ship to canada, but they now charge me Bond fees.“When funds are not provided in advance by the customer, and UPS must post a bond to allow UPS shipments to be released in advance of payment to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)¨¸They charge 10 $ for 10 $ taxes…
i am waiting an answer from rockbottom golf.
