We’ve all been there. The first tee shot goes into the water. The second is a shank dead right. Who hasn’t wanted to toss the responsible club into a lake? For most of us though, the thought of having to go buy a new club keeps us in check. But if you’re like Sergio and you get your clubs for free… then it’s game on.
Sergio Garcia
It’s that time of year again. The best players in the world are getting in last minute practice for the start of the US Open at Congressional on Thursday.
The last 2 US Opens have produced champions who weren’t picked by many pundits to win. There are probably 50 players with a reasonable chance this week. So instead of picking who I think it most likely to win, I’m picking 5 “under-the-radar” players that I think could win this week.
Apparently Sergio Garcia has been taking accounting advice from Wesley Snipes. According to an article on GolfDigest.com, the IRS is claiming that Sergio owes them $1.72m from 2003 and 2004. It’s not his first “issue” with taxes, but it may be his last. The US government doesn’t mess around when it comes to taxes.
According to the article, the IRS is claiming that Retief Goosen also owes them money. Although in his case it’s a much more manageable $192k.
Of course, both golfers say that they’ve paid everything they owe and the IRS is in error. We’ll see how that works out for them…
